Merge up to six channels
Open the rooms you follow and read them as one scrollback. If the connection drops it reconnects and restores whatever public backfill Twitch still offers.
Twitch chat client / in migration
A self-hosted Twitch chat client. Open up to six channels and read them as one log, with your palette, your font and your line height remembered. It is the old Chat Thing, rebuilt in Go and TypeScript so we can host it. The rebuild is still in progress, and the original app stays up until it reaches parity.
For viewers who keep more than one chat open and want their own settings to stick.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
Open the rooms you follow and read them as one scrollback. If the connection drops it reconnects and restores whatever public backfill Twitch still offers.
The original palettes, fonts, filters, columns and header modes are all here, with saved slots. Pick a colour and a shade; the cat in the header follows.
Signed-in sending, replies, whispers and moderation notices use tokens held on the server, never in the browser. Those parts are still behind release gates and are not promised yet.
WHERE IT STANDS
Chatty Cat rebuilds HasanAbi Chat Thing and its Twitch relay by mxmilkiib, under AGPL-3.0. The original app remains the reference until every feature family reaches parity.
chat.subcult.tv serves the current build for anonymous viewing. Sessions end when the service restarts.
It is one Go service with a TypeScript front end. Build it from source, or run the container from the deploy notes, behind your own HTTPS proxy.
A FEW DETAILS
No. It is a viewer’s chat client that talks to Twitch. Twitch does not make or endorse it.
Same log, same settings, our server. The code was rewritten so SUBCULT can host it; the name changed with the hosting. The lineage and license are in the repository’s NOTICE file.
Moderation is built but not released. Real consent, posting and moderation on Twitch are release gates that have not passed, so the page does not claim them.
MADE IN THE OPEN
Patreon pays for the hours and the hosting. Paid members get private channels in our Discord and supporter posts, which show up when we have something to share. The monthly newsletter is free.
