Stream operator desk / in development

Overlaid

Everything on air, on one screen.

Overlays for OBS (alerts, chat, ticker, goals, now playing, starting, BRB and ending), Twitch events fed into them, a chat bot with commands, timers and moderation, scene controls, rehearsal sessions and a health page that says what is wrong. It runs beside OBS on your own machine. In development; there is no public instance.

For one person running a stream who is also the producer, the moderator and the person who fixes it.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

On air, scenes, chat, overlays, health, settings, sessions.

01

Ten overlays for OBS

Alerts, chat, goals, now playing, ticker, camera, starting, BRB, ending and a debug view, each a browser source with a keyed URL. Add ?demo=1 to preview any of them with sample events.

02

Twitch, into the overlays

After you sign in, an EventSub worker turns chat, redemptions, subs, bits and follows into alert and ticker events.

03

A bot with a record

Commands, timers, counters and quotes, interaction rules for chat aliases and channel point rewards, moderation with an audit trail.

04

Scenes and rehearsals

OBS scene controls, quick-action presets and sequences, and rehearsal sessions that produce a report you can read afterwards.

05

A health page

Readiness that says which part is degraded: OBS, Twitch, EventSub, retained state or history. Open it first when something breaks.

WHERE IT STANDS

In development

  1. Runs on your machine

Overlaid is a Go API and a React desk you run beside OBS, from Docker Compose, with PostgreSQL for history and sessions.

  2. No public instance

There is nothing to sign up for. The code is public under GPL-3.0; live checks against a real Twitch channel and OBS are still part of the work.

A FEW DETAILS

Common questions

Does it replace OBS?

No. OBS still does the video. Overlaid talks to it over OBS WebSocket and supplies the browser sources.

Does it work with other platforms?

Twitch only, for now.

Can I run it on a server?

It can run in LAN or public exposure modes, which require the operator secret, overlay token and webhook secret to be set. Local mode is the default.

MADE IN THE OPEN

Overlaid is made by SUBCULT.

Patreon pays for the hours and the hosting. Paid members get private channels in our Discord and supporter posts, which show up when we have something to share. The monthly newsletter is free.
