tmux plugin

tmux-popups

One row in a table, one popup in tmux.

A Prefix+Enter quick menu and direct bindings, generated from a TSV registry. Add a row, get a popup. Local overrides, dependency checks in the help screen, a doctor script for tmux and TPM problems, and a small or full profile. Bash only, no build step.

For the tmux user who is tired of writing each popup binding by hand.

A tmux session with Neovim open and the tmux-popups Quick Menu in the centre listing popups such as help, shell, tasks, notes, calendar and lazygit with their key bindings

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Add a row. Get a popup.

01

A registry, not a config

Every popup is one row in popups.tsv: name, key, command, size. The quick menu and the direct bindings are generated from it.

02

Prefix+Enter

The quick menu lists every enabled popup with its key. Press the key to open it over the current pane.

03

Overrides and a doctor

A local override registry for your own rows, dependency checks in the help screen, and a doctor script for tmux and TPM problems.

GETTING IT

Install with TPM

  1. Add the plugin line

set -g @plugin ‘PatrickFanella/tmux-popups’ in your tmux.conf, then install with TPM.

  2. Pick a profile

Small or full. Enable or disable adapters individually.

  3. Check the dependencies

Each popup needs its own tool. The help screen shows which are present; it checks presence, not credentials.
